This Theme in Reads: B/W Movies
I flipped my way through a book my husband picked up, The Woman In The Window, and had an unfamiliar relationship with the protagonist. She, Mrs. Dr. Anna Fox, is an agoraphobe who spies on her neighbors through the power of her Nikon lens. After having seen the iconic film "Rear Window" and it's modern remake "Disturbia", I assumed I had a pretty fair understanding of how the book was going to go. I was continously frustrated and annoyed with Anna from her actions and he lack of responsibility with handling life. You think you know Anna, and then she surprises you and you once thought you were on her side only to find out that we the reader were in fact looking at her life through a lens. The book was such a fantastic read and I kept skipping down to the next paragraph to see how a conversation was going to unfold. I did put it down when I got too annoyed with Anna, but was too curios to let my frustation stop me from unveiling the mystery. I highly recommend this book if you want a quick summer thriller to last you the week!

A personal thought about the book:
Reading through the book was strange in a way because it felt like this was the first books I read that mentioned modern (circa 2014) things that felt foreign to me in a book. For example, she mentions modern food delivery services like Blue Apron. It's just a reminder to the reader about the cultural atmosphere to better engage with the protagonist.
One of Anna's past times is watching old B/W movies and in the spirit of connecting with the protagonist, here is a list of 5 B/W movies that I like to watch:
1. Laura
2. Breakfast At Tiffany's
3. Casablanca
4. His Girl Friday
5. It's a Wonderful Life
